Resolved Question: Traveling in a month and nervous about bed bugs?

Hello, At the end of next month, I will be traveling through the UK. I have read reviews on trip advisor (from two years ago) that people at some of the hotels had bed bug bites (only one person/family at each hotel, but at more than one hotel I am staying at). Right now I am looking at sprays and other types of things to protect my luggage and myself from being bitten. I can't change the hotel as it was a prearranged package so moving to a different hotel is not an option. The more recent reviews of the hotel look much better, so is it possible the conditions have improved? Thank you for your help! As noted, I can't change the hotels that were booked through a company. They are moderately priced hotels so enough money is being spent. I am looking to take a precautionary step.

Resolved Question: 10 points for best answer.pleeease help, what can be the possible remedies in this case....?

What can be the possible remedies under section 8 of the Human Rights Act 1998 for john? EBA (buddhist association) invited famous Tibetan Lama Sogyal (senior buddhist figure) to a special Buddhist Service to be held at Ace Mill in Entwhistle, on Friday 28 October 2011. Ace Mill is situated opposite the factory of Electro plc. In front of the mill there is a large open half-circular roadway. The Lama Sogyal believes that all public Buddhist services should be held in the open air. There have been (uncorroborated) allegations on various blogs and Facebook sites in the internet that Electro plc makes components for stun guns and supply supply them to the Chinese Government. Also, that Chinese troops have already used stun guns in Tibet on Buddhist monks in support of the Dalai Lama. EBA chose this date deliberately, having found out that a high-powered Chinese Government Visiting Delegation was scheduled to visit Electro plc’s premises on that day. EBA published in its website the programme for the event. The service was planned for 11.00 am and the congregation were then invited to accompany the Lama Sogyal across the road to Electro plc’s main entrance gates. EBA planned the service to include a public sermon and address from trustee of EBA, and a public reply by the Lama Sogyal. Trustees’s address would have included a denunciation of the Chinese Government in respect of its oppression in Tibet. The Lama Sogyal would have echoed that denunciation, and added criticism of his own of the Chinese Government in relation to oppression of Tibetan Buddhists. This was advertised on EBA's website. However, on 18 October 2011, the Chief Constable of Greater Entwhistle Police (“GEP”), having been alerted by the Chinese Embassy in the UK to the EBA website contents, issued a notice to EBA trustees under s14 Public Order Act 1986, imposing the following conditions on the EBA service planned for 28 October 2011: 1. any service and event to be held by the EBA between 19 October and 31 October 2011 should be held in an alternative location in Greater Entwhistle, at least 10 miles from Electro plc’s main gates. 2. the maximum number of demonstrators shall be 20. 3. the maximum duration of the service and demonstration shall be 2 hours. 4. the service and event should be held within a building, and not in the open-air. In a separate letter, the Chief Constable asked EBA to advise its members that if any prospective demonstrator seeks to trespass on any part of Electro plc’s premises on 28 October 2011, GEP would arrest them under powers not limited to, but including, powers contained in s128 Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005. In light of the above, EBA reluctantly cancelled the service, whilst protesting in writing to the Chief Constable.John and Mary Eva, residents of Cornwall, who had booked non-refundable flights from Exeter Airport to Manchester Airport (and road transfers), and partly non-refundable hotel accommodation at a five-star hotel, in order to participate in the advertised service. They lost the opportunity to hear a sermon from the Lama Sogyal, plus over £1,800. Question Can John and Mary Eva use the Human Rights Act 1998 to challenge the decision of the Chief Constable and claim for their £1,800 losses? SECTION 8 REMEDIES - what can be the possible possible remedies? How would the issue be brought to the court, through Judicial Review or through using breach of human rights as a defence in a case? any cases to go with it?

Resolved Question: UK Employment advice pls. I work 16hrs per week at home as a Telephone Mystery Shopper?

I have a contract for the 16hrs and have always stuck to it. It is flexible working which is ideal as I have an 8yr old daughter I Home Educate due to a health issue. This week they have had a new telephone system installed which has completely wiped out the equipment we all used (several office based and home based workers). This week we have all had to wait in for couriers for new equipment to arrive and they say they want us to make the 16hrs up where we can this week or add onto next week. This is start of the school holidays and I feel that this new office manager (single with no interest in children and she made that quite clear) has chosen the worst possible time to implement these changes. I do have a contract and have been with the company since March 14 this year so have cleared my probationary period - although I have never had a "review" to say I had passed I just took this as well I'm still employed so it must be ok. I enjoy the work immensely and it affords me the flexibility I wouldn't get any where else. Can someone pls tell me where I stand and as it it the companies problem that they have these technical issues this week (we can now ONLY reach them on mobiles until they get new system sorted) Do I make a fuss and stand my ground (if there are any for me to fight with) or do I put up and shut up ? They did this once before when they had no outlets left for any of us to call and so I was a day short of work (5hrs left to work that week). They asked me if I would mind adding them onto the next week - which I did but surely this is not right ? I have other things to do in my week and have 3hrs a day where I have to Home Teach my 2 children in the mornings. By saying yes I'd carry that 5hrs forward have I given them the green light to do as they please ? Surely there is a fine line but I'm not sure whether I should rock the boat. One of the guys I met at a recent company training day well I can tell you he would definitely not put up with this. We were away for 48 hours yet they only gave us 10 hours work allowance for the whole time - I found this dreadful. Yes they did pay hotel and travel. Please help. If I rock the boat I worry they will find some excuse to get rid of me and I need the job as I can't go out to work due to my commitment to the children. Basically can they insist I carry forward 16hrs to next week ? Thanks

Resolved Question: is destinology.co.uk reliable?

Hi, Has anyone used this site before? The prices seem so cheap. And I am wary of booking through them incase the hotel doesn't accept it? As I have always booked direct with the hotel, but this site is £400 cheaper. I looked on a reviews website about it, but a lot of the positive reviews seemed a bit suspicious to me, as they all mentioned the staff members names properly spelt etc..Am I just being paranoid?! Thanks for any help. Also, I am just booking the hotel as I have booked the flight separatle already!

Resolved Question: 2 Girls Traveling to Turkey - Marmaris?

Me and a friend (21 and 22 years of age) are going to Marmaris in 11 days. We are going for 2 weeks bed and breakfast. Eating out most nights, not really having lunch, if anything just a snack from the supermarket. Of course going out most nights drinking. Though we plan to drink in our hotel room first before we head out, especially if heading to bar street, We have already prepaid for Ephesus, boat trip, dinner cruise and Turkish bath. Also planning to go on jeep safari and another trip when we get there. Not planning to do much shopping, more exploring and sun bathing. My questions are; Does anyone have a rough idea how much we should take EACH for the two weeks? Should we exchange most our money into lira (when we get there, not in UK), or should we exchange only a little and pay for most things in sterling? If so how much should we exchange? Does anyone know anything about day passes to the big hotels to use their faculties for the day and have all inclusive? Has anyone stayed at the Mehtap hotel, the reviews are very mixed and I'm rather worried? What is the weather like in June, i went in May last year and it was just right so I am concerned it will be too hot? I went to turkey last year, but it was for one week and with a friend who wanted to spend most days just on the beach, we did not take enough money and this time round I plan to have the full experience. I did love Marmaris! Thank x

Resolved Question: onthebeach.co.uk reviews?

Hi, I'm interested in booking a holiday through onthebeach.co.uk but I've read some bad reviews about them online (e.g people saying they called them the day after booking to say flight/hotel was full and charging more money to change the dates or upgrade to a different hotel). However, a friend used them before with no problems. Just wondering if anyone else has had a good experience with them? Thanks

Resolved Question: What is Let's Take you Back? 19?

1968: Well how time flys now it's 1968, so hop on board and lets take that trip down memory lane. Hope you enjoy one and all, and share your thoughts if you want? April 2nd: Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, based on the book by Arthur C. Clarke, is released to mixed reviews - some find it unbearably slow and obtuse, thanks to its minimal dialogue and disjointed images. But it gradually gains a reputation as the most influential sci-fi movie ever, noted for its special effects, its audacious score of classical music [notably Richard Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra], and its talking computer, HAL. January 4th: Jimi Hendrix is arrested in Gothenburg, Sweden, after a hotel room smashing incident. February 12th:Jimi Hendrix plays a show for students at his old school, Garfield High in Seattle. He is then awarded an honorary diploma - no bad for someone who dropped out of school at 14. February 22th: Genesis release their debut single, The Silent Sun. March 4th: The Mothers Of Invention, led by Frank Zappa, release the album 'We're Only In It For The Money,' in a spoof Sgt. Pepper-like sleeve. Zappa always courts notoriety, with an ironic disdain that enchants some, alienates others, and passes many by completely. But over the coming years he proves to be not only a razor-sharp wit, but a remarkable guitarist and composer.March 18th: The Steve Miller Band releases its debut single 'Sittin' In Circles,' in the US. January 13th: The UK'S Guardian newspaper reports that Richard Branson, a 17-year-old former public schoolboy turned publisher, wants to be "the voice of youth" By 22 he will found Virgin Records. April 11th: President Johnson signs the US Civil Rights Act of 1968 while pleading for an end to the rioting which has erupted since the slaying of Martin Luther KIng. Pink Floy intorduce an electronic sound projector called the 'azimuth coordinator' at their Albert Hall show in London. The FBI says it is seeking an escaped convict, James Earl Ray for the murder of Martin Luther King. Deep Purple make their live debut at Tastrup, near Copenhagen, Denmark. April 4th: the 39 year old civil rights leader Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is Assassinated. May 4th: Aspiring UK pop group The Freehold play their first-ever gig, at the Marine Theatre in the sleepy seaside resort of Lyme Regis, Dorset. Their drummer is a young hopeful called Phil Collins...Most of the town's residents, meanwhile are probably at home watching Welsh songstress Mary Hopkin on Uk TV talent show Opportunity Knocks. Hopkin is spotted by Twiggy, who recommends her to Paul McCartney. May 7th: Riot Police storm the stage at a festival in Rome while controversial band The Move are playing. History doesn't record whether the police are assuming the chorus to "Fire Brigade" is an actual cry for help. May 10th: At a Monkees recording session, Neil Young plays lead guitar on the track 'Youn And I' which will appear on the album Instant Replay. May 18th: The Miami Pop Festival [also known as the Underground Pop Festival], begins at the Gulf Stream Race Track, Hallandale, Miami, Florida, with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, John Lee Hooker, Frank Zappa, Blue Cheer, Arthur Brown and Eire Apparent.Pink Floyd perform at the first free festival in Hyde Park, London - support comes from Jethro Tull, Roy Harper, and a new duo called Tyrannosaurus Rex. The Band release their mold breaking debut album, Music From The Big Pink.July 10th: Eric Clapton announces the break-up of Cream, because of "loss of direction". July 23rd: five young hopefuls from Gary, Indiana, calling themselves The Jackson Five, arrive in Detroit Michigan, to audition for Berry Gordy at Motown Records. September 3rd: Street Fighting Man by The Rolling Stones is banned in Chicago, Illinois, following recent riots at the Democratic Convention in that city. September 14th: First US TV appearance of cartoon pop group The Archies, whose single 'Sugar Sugar' will sell over six million copies. Big Brother & The Holding Company hit Number One on the US album charts with Cheap Thrills. When Pink Floyd appear at Imperial College, London, their support band is Smile, featuring Brian May and Roger Taylor both future members of Queen. Revolutionary rock act the MC5 record their debut album, Kick Out The Jams at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit. November 1st: the first offical Beatle solo album - the movie soundtrack Wonderwall is released by George Harrison on Apple Records. November 8th: Cynthia Lennon is divorced from John. Three days later, the album Two Virgins, by John and Yoko is released - its cover which shows the pair naked is rejected by many shops so the record is distributed in a paper bag. 1968: now to hear the music that we walked all this way to hear. 1. Resolved Question: Hint, tips, advice & feedback for planning a England, Wales, Scotland & Ireland in 2011?

Slowly planning an overseas trip with 2 girlfriends for 2011 - around the July/August/September period as we want to include the Edinburgh Tattoo. Has anyone flown Air Asia? I've heard good things, but wondered if it was too cheap and nasty?? Does anyone have any good website for travelling tips? I already use Trip Advisor to check out hotel reviews Whats the cheapest and easiest way to contact family whilst over there? Also, what's the best way to hook up to an internet connection to check emails etc? I'm looking at getting a little notebook (laptop) closer to the time of travel to take over there (know I need to take it on the plane and remove battery for going through check in/security etc). Any recommendations for a good notebook?? Also tips for travelling with it? Can anyone recommend accommodation they know of that do Triple Rooms or have 3 single beds? Not fussed how cheap it is - happy to economise here! Can't seem to find a search-able accommodation site where I can search by the number of beds per room - if you know of one that would be great!! Have looked at Travelodge which have great prices starting at 19 pounds per night but they don't seem to have triple rooms/sleep 3 separately, so we'd need to book 2 rooms. Not sure that it makes it a cheap option necessarily! Does anyone know any other cheap hotels/chains? I know there's a lot located in service centre places just off the highways - eg has accommodation, food, petrol stations Money saving ideas, and tips for travelling in the UK etc would also be very much appreciated. Last time we shopped at Tesco and made packed lunches so that saved a little. General international travel tips welcome too!!! thanks!!!!

Resolved Question: Lake Tahoe Hotel advice?

Hi, I'm looking to book a hotel in Lake Tahoe around early October for the weekend, basically to propose to my girlfriend. Now is Lake Tahoe the kind of place to do this, or is it more of a party place? I'm from the UK and have never been, so don't know what to expect, my girlfriend is from Sacramento, so has been once or twice. It looks amazing from the pictures i've seen and the reviews i've read, but i've also read it can be a bit hectic at certain times of the year. It certainly looks great and I was sold on the pictures alone. Also, could anyone recommend a nice hotel, somewhere secluded, with great views? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Resolved Question: Why fly with EgyptAir based on reviews they inspect before posting? If you want to know the truth, read on...?

To all of you thinking about flying with Egypt Air, I would like to make sure you think very very carefully before you book with this airline!!! My mother in law was stuck in Cairo as all UK airports were closed from Thursday 15 April 12:00 due to the volcanic ash; she was due to arrive Thursday afternoon. Staff in Cairo were so unhelpful, not caring about a poor old lady travelling on her own worried about not being able to get to the UK to see her son. This seemed to be the case with all passengers; lack of communication, guidance and effort seemed to be the biggest frustrations. They were put into the most amazing hotel on Thursday night only to be kicked out onto the streets of this foreign country by the hotel the day after telling the passengers that Egypt Air would only fund ONE night and that they need to leave. I myself always look for cheaper travel options and have previously considered flying with Egypt Air; sadly I was the person that recommended the airline to my mother in law based on the price. Walking the streets alone back and forth to and from the airport with all her luggage asking every single person for help yet Egypt Air were just as unhelpful and unwilling to go even an inch further than what they're paid to, what happened to taking some pride in your work? Broke and not knowing where she will be sleeping on Friday night and even if she'll be able to get to the UK she ended up flying back home abused and battered throughout her journey. We will in a few weeks time pay for another ticket through A DIFFERENT AIRLINE. I don't care how much cheaper Egypt Air is to any big parastatals out there, you can at the end of the day not put a price on having a peace of mind knowing that even if you don’t get from A to B, that you’ll be taken care of either way. I also spoke to their UK office, this experience could mostly be prescribed as RUDE and unhelpful, but also a “don’t care” attitude, ironically I phoned through to their sales department. I’m sorry I wasted even more money thinking that I would get anything more out of the UK office than the treatment they received in Cairo. I will go to the ends of the earth to notify every single person I know that Egypt Air is no more than a glorified bus, they’re very willing and happy to take your money when you get on, but couldn't care less if you fall out of the window while on your journey!! I am embarrassed for ever recommending them to somebody I know, this will never happen again!!! They don't deserve the honor of flying anybody anywhere no matter what they charge!!!

Resolved Question: motivation. who can check?

guys, i have written a motivation to study at the university. who can check it? i also would like to heard a critics and something what i need to change or add or remove. please, help me. motivation is very important. Dear Sir or Madam, I am Evelina and I come from Latvia and currently I am living in the UK. I graduated from the gymnasium last year. I have heard a lot about Scotland, its culture and traditions. Some of my friends, who study there, have told me many interesting things about this part of England. Having read some articles and heard some reviews from others, I decided that Scotland is the best option for me. Since I love geography and traveling, I would like to be in touch with English culture, its architecture, lifestyle, interesting people, and find myself there. I have always been interested in business, administration and IT. That is why I have chosen Scotland as a place where I can study it. And therefore, this is the best place for me to find myself in this sphere, because I am an enthusiastic, with a love of people and a determination to succeed. I imagine a career which is: fast moving, gives me the opportunity for rapid promotion, is logical and practical, provides the chance to work wherever I want.I have always enjoyed learning about business. I found it fascinating. So it is quite easy for me to talk about my career ambitions (business) and what I want to do (be employed in the field of business and IT). What concerns my traits, I suppose that I am very well prepared for business and administration. To my mind, a business background is an excellent way to a good career. I have took a gap year after school and moved to United Kingdom for understanding myself – what I really want to do in my life, to improve my English skills and gain some work and life experience ,to meet new people as well. When I was at school, I worked as a secretary in the office one of my summer holiday in Czech Republic and I liked that job more rather than my current job (general assistant at the hotel). It is good I can make a comparison between such different part of work, that is why I decided that hospitality is not what I want to study and to do. Now, after long consideration, I came to the most obvious and elementary decision – business, administration and IT field is something that I want and what I need. I would like to mention my achievements in mathematics and drawing while I was at school. I am really good at problem-solving and figuring things out, at logic and analyses. I am engaged in plotting and drawing at school and also at the art school. And once, my figure has been noted at an exhibition in Macedonia. I am a good PC user (Excel, MS-Office) as well. I think, my decision to study this particular course, was affected by my father who worked both as a construction superintendent, and an engineer. He drew and designed a lot, work on the computer, communicated with people, and was responsible for many projects. I have always watched and listened carefully to how he did his job, and have learnt a lot from him. I think I got my drawing skills, my responsibility, my logical and analytical mind and the ability to come up with fast and right decisions, from my father. I played a lot of sports as a kid. This is where I have learned the values of teamwork, how to win, how to work hard, how to focus and concentrate, and how to find a balance between my time and priorities. And I suppose that the gained experience will be quite valuable for my future life and career. To sum up, I think to study abroad is an excellent way to broaden my horizons, to make new friends, to get not only theoretical but and practical knowledge. It is wonderful starting to communicate with international people and without recognition beginning to look at world a little bit differ. In my opinion, Scotland can provide a lot of opportunities for my future career. It’s the best place to study, live and work. Studying in Scotland would be a great experience for me. I am sure I will do my best there. Thank you for considering my application Yours faithfully,

Resolved Question: Reasonably priced nice hotels in Delhi?

My boyfriend and me are planning to go to India in June for a wedding and are currently looking for somewhere to stay. We'll be staying for about 10 days, can't afford anything too expensive as we are students but as long as it's clean, air conditioned and has trustworthy food, anything goes, it's mainly a place to sleep as we will be out and about a lot. Has anyone got experience with this hotel by any chance: http://www.hotelajanta.com/ It looks really nice and is affordable, reviews on trip advisor are mixed though so any experiences would be appreciated. Also any thoughts on how long it takes for UK/German citizen to get a visa? I've done it before but it's been a while and I would like to know when to start planning!

Britain's 10 dirtiest hotels have been named and shamed by the world's largest review site, Tripadvisor. The Cromwell Crown in Earls Court, London, was given the non-coveted award as the country's worst hotel. Almost 65% of travellers had condemned the £50-a-night accommodation with a one-star review on Tripadvisor's website.... Resolved Question: Are hotels.co.uk a reliable company to book hotels through online?

I'm looking to book a hotel for 3 nights in Paris, and while searching for some reviews on sites like tripadvisor.com have found some comments suggesting that hotels booked through the company never received the payment/booking and there have been major problems with reservations. Is this common, and have other people had similar experiences? Or does anyone use their service regularly and find them to be fine? Also, I also read somewhere that the price that is shown next to the hotels on the search results isn't the final price and that a 25% surcharge is applied? Is that true? Thank you!
